Recently, the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District held a ceremony to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hanoi's Old Quarter receiving the National Monument Classification Certificate and 20 years of operating the walking space.
The district has always paid attention to preserving and embellishing tangible heritage values; intangible heritage values have been restored and promoted. In particular, the district has restored 14 festivals, associated with major holidays. Over 1,000 exhibitions, displays, introductions of works of art, demonstrations of traditional crafts, traditional music performances, seminars, talks and experiential and interactive activities have been organized.
After 20 years of implementation, the operation of the Hoan Kiem walking space has also created a new tourism product for the city, contributing to promoting the development of trade, services, tourism, and at the same time creating a new cultural space for the people of the capital.
The walking space in Hoan Kiem has been increasingly expanded and operated effectively with the organization of 9,345 traditional and contemporary art performances, including 2,461 performances at the Hoan Kiem Lake walking space and 6,884 performances at the walking street of Hanoi's Old Quarter.
Emphasizing that the Law on the Capital (revised) has been passed by the National Assembly, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District Pham Tuan Long said that, in addition to implementing specific mechanisms and policies according to the Law on the Capital, Hoan Kiem District is focusing on implementing Resolution 09-NQ/TU of the Hanoi Party Committee on "Developing cultural industry in the capital for the period 2021-2025, orientation to 2030, vision to 2045".
In the future, Hoan Kiem District will continue to increase investment in renovating, embellishing and promoting the value of historical and cultural relics in Hanoi's Old Quarter; shaping Hanoi's Old Quarter into a development area according to the BID (Business Improvement District) model, contributing to improving the quality of services and experiences for tourists.
To continue promoting the value of Hanoi's Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem District will carry out 10 key tasks. Along with promoting scientific research; actively participating in research activities and proposing solutions to preserve and promote heritage values, the district will strengthen investment, restoration and embellishment work, ensuring that 100% of historical and cultural relics are restored and preserved according to scientific and effective processes.
On this occasion, Hoan Kiem District will organize an exhibition to introduce some images, projects, activities to preserve and promote the value of Hanoi's Old Quarter and activities of walking spaces in the district at the Digital Cultural and Art Center at 22 Hang Buom Street from December 1 to 15, 2024.
The district also organizes art performances, traditional music, exhibitions, experiences introducing craft villages - craft streets... at the walking space of Hoan Kiem Lake from November 29 to December 1 and at the following locations: Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center at 50 Dao Duy Tu Street, Heritage House at 87 Ma May Street, Kim Ngan Communal House at 42 - 44 Hang Bac Street from November 29 to December 15./.
