The Post Office is more than a century old, meticulously designed with sophisticated details of Western imprints combined with Eastern decorative features.

This building with Western architectural style combined with Eastern decoration was built by the French between 1886 and 1891.

It is located at 2 Paris Commune Street, on the highest land of HCM City. Along with the Notre Dame Cathedral on the opposite side, the Post Office is one of the most beautiful examples of Renaissance architecture in Vietnam.

The beautiful features of the three-story semi-submerged building, seen from the outside, are the row of curved windows, the large clock above the main door to the building and the red flag with a yellow star, the national flag of Vietnam, fluttering in the wind.

According to the US magazine Architectural Digest, the yellow façade and green shutters, of the Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh City, have turned the building into not only just a post office but a popular tourist attraction.

The structure was designed by Alfred Foulhoux, in the late 1880s.

It features many elements of renaissance, gothic, and other French architectural styles.

Algiers Central Post Office in Algeria topped the list, while the Palacio de Correos de México was placed third./.
