Ho Chi Minh City enhances cooperation with OIF

At the meeting, Mr. Cuong congratulated Mr. Edgar Doerrig on his new assignment in Vietnam and said he believed that with his experience he will contribute much to OIF. He also respectfully acknowledged the contribution of the OIF to Ho Chi Minh City, in which the role of the Chief Representative of the Asia Pacific region is very important.

He recalled the recent visit of the OIF Secretary General to Ho Chi Minh City, during which, many businesses wished to cooperate in developing green import and export and cooperation in the agricultural sector, with the central role of Ho Chi Minh City as the import and export gateway and trade transactions convenient for export cooperation with other countries. In the coming time, it is necessary to strengthen trade exchanges focusing on clean agricultural products and green energy for sustainable development.

Noting that in Ho Chi Minh City, there is the Asia Pacific Francophone Center at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and IDECAF, contributing to cultural exchange, education and training in French, he said he hoped to continue to pay attention and support for IDECAF and the Asia Pacific Francophonie Center to continue to have many activities to enhance exchanges and cooperation.

Mr. Edgar Doerrig said that that was his first visit to the city as the Chief Representative of the Asia Pacific region of the OIF, but before that, he came to the city many times and felt the dynamic development of the city. He also expressed his hope that in the coming time, the two sides can promote the results of trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, as well as between Ho Chi Minh City and the OIF. In particular, he proposed that in addition to the field of information technology, he wanted to cooperate with the city in the field of agriculture, such as exporting coffee and importing cocoa.

On this occasion, Mr. Edgar Doerrig also thanked the Vietnamese government and the Ho Chi Minh City authority for their interest in supporting the teaching and cultural exchange of French./.
