He made the statement on June 12 during a reception for Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) Central Committee member and First Secretary of the Havana Party Committee Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, who is on a Vietnam visit.
According to Mr. Nen, in recent years, the two countries have always maintained high-level visits to each other to tighten ties. Meanwhile, with its role as the economic, cultural and educational center of the country, with its potential and advantages, Ho Chi Minh City is always ready to play a pivotal role in promoting economic cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba; ready to coordinate, share experiences, expand investment cooperation with Cuban localities, and encourage organizations, businesses and people of Ho Chi Minh City to strengthen friendly exchanges and cooperation with Cuba.
Appreciating the development guidelines of the Cuban Party and Government, as well as empathizing with the challenges that Cuba is facing, he expressed his belief that the Cuban Government can promote the spirit of solidarity and creativity to overcome the challenges. Ho Chi Minh City always wishes to share and cooperate with Cuba to implement plans and goals for both sides to achieve many successes.
He added that the two sides need to promote their inherent advantages such as training high-quality medical human resources of Cuba and high-tech agriculture of Ho Chi Minh City, as well as increased connection in tourism.
Mr. Luis Antonio Torres Iribar affirmed that Cuba and Vietnam always have sincere and good feelings for each other. Recalling the immortal words of leader Fidel Castro "For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed blood", he emphasized that this spirit continues to be passed on to generations of leaders and people.
With the special friendship built by the two leaders Fidel Castro and Ho Chi Minh, he said he wished to further promote cooperation in many fields between the two countries and localities, including Havana and Ho Chi Minh City.
Emphasizing that Vietnam is Cuba's second largest trading partner and Asia's largest investor in Cuba and the only partner authorized to develop industrial infrastructure in the Mariel Special Economic Zone, the Third Secretary La Habana City Party Committee affirmed that Cuba prioritizes cooperation with Vietnam in all fields, including food production.
Cuba is looking forward to more businesses from Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City to invest in fields where Cuba has needs and Vietnam has strengths such as agricultural production, food, aquaculture, wholesale and retail, education, healthcare and tourism.
According to Mr. Luis Antonio Torres Iribar, Cuba is willing to share its experience in health development with Vietnam. On this occasion, he also thanked the authorities and people of Ho Chi Minh City for helping Cuba both materially and spiritually during Cuba's difficulties, and affirmed that strengthening the special relationship between the two countries has always been Cuba's top priority./.
