The consumer price index (CPI) in Ho Chi Minh City increased by 0.04% in March 2023, according to the city Statistics Office.

Four out of the 11 commodity groups saw price increases, including beverages and tobacco, garments and footwear, housing and construction materials, and equipment and household appliances.
Prices of three groups remained unchanged, including drugs and medical services, education, culture and entertainment
The rest witnessed prices fall, including food and catering services, transportation, post and telecommunications, and other goods and services
According to the city Statistics Office, prices of food and food services decreased by 0.27%. Meanwhile, prices of housing, electricity and water, fuel, construction materials soared by 0.53%; gas prices decreased by 3.16%; home repairing services’ prices went up by 0.5%. Prices of the equipment and household appliances group rose by 0.11%.
In the first 3 months of 2023, the CPI increased by 4.5% on average, except for the post and telecommunications group which decreased by 0.31% and the transportation group declined by 1.27%.
The remaining 9 groups all saw price increases; in which, the highest price increase belonged to food and food services, up 4.67%, tobacco and beverage up 4.64%, housing and construction materials up 5.78%, culture and entertainment up 6.46% and education by 15.28%./.
