Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee Le Hong Quang emphasized that 2022 is a year of special significance for the two countries Vietnam - Laos, as the senior leaders of the two countries officially launched the "Year of solidarity and friendship Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam 2022", the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2022) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam – Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 - July 18, 2022).
He also emphasized that the mutual support activities of the two provinces of An Giang and Champasak over the past time have aimed to bring the people of the two provinces closer to each other, trust each other, and jointly build prosperity, peace, friendship, stability, cooperation and sustainable development, thereby, contributing to solidify the foundation of special relations between the two countries Vietnam - Laos in general and between the two provinces of An Giang - Champasak in particular.
Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the Party Committee and Governor of the southwestern Lao province of Champasak Vilayvong Bouddakham thanked the leaders of An Giang Province for the warm welcome, solidarity and brotherly love to the Champasak delegation, and expressed his joy and pride in the solidarity and closeness between the two countries in general, between the two provinces of An Giang - Champasak in particular for many years.
At the same time, he thanked An Giang Province for its support to Champasak Province in COVID-19 prevention and control, as well as the grant of scholarships, human resource training, support and transfer technology in the field of agriculture.
On the basis of cooperation between the two provinces of Champasak and An Giang since 2006, Mr. Vilayvong Bouddakham said he hoped that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to tighten the relationship of solidarity and coordination, implementing of the contents of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two provinces effectively.
At the meeting, leaders of the two provinces discussed in detail the needs and capabilities of each side, then agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation, continue to implement cooperation contents in the period 2022 - 2026.
This was a milestone to raise and deepen the cooperation relationship between the two provinces, which has grown more and more widely.
On this occasion, two groups and two individuals of An Giang were awarded Certificates of Merit by Mr. Vilayvong Boutdakham for outstanding achievements in implementing cooperation contents in the field of education between the two provinces of An Giang and Champasak./.
