During the event, Mr. Pham Xuan Ha, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association of Dong Nai Province, recounted the historical journey and relationship between Vietnam and Russia. Diplomatic ties were officially established on January 30, 1950, between Vietnam and the former Soviet Union, now the Russian Federation. Over the past 74 years, the bilateral relationship has been nurtured based on trust and mutual understanding.
Vietnam and the Soviet Union stood side by side through challenging times during Vietnam's prolonged struggle for independence. Soviet friends also supported Vietnam in rebuilding its national economy post-war, contributing significantly to key sectors such as economics, science, education and healthcare. Today, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Russia has evolved to new heights with the establishment of a Strategic Partnership in 2001 and a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2012.
In Dong Nai, the Tri An Hydropower Plant (Vinh Cuu District) serves as a historical testament to the Vietnam-Russia friendship. Over eight years of operation, the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association of Dong Nai has established three chapters with 120 members. The association has proactively organized numerous people-to-people exchange activities, developed relations with the Consulate General of Russia in Ho Chi Minh City, and collaborated with Dong Nai-based businesses connected to Russian partners.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Timur Sadykov, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed his gratitude to Dong Nai Province for hosting such a meaningful program. He expressed hope for expanded cooperation between Dong Nai and Russia across various fields in the near future.
The program featured traditional cultural performances from Vietnam and Russia, as well as an exhibition themed "Vietnam-Russia Friendship on Dong Nai Soil", showcasing photographs celebrating the strong bond between the two nations./.
