Hanoi reinforces and promotes cooperative relationship with Australian city

Gold Coast City Mayor Tom Tate expressed his pleasure to have the opportunity to return to Vietnam and visit Hanoi, emphasizing that this was a valuable opportunity for the two cities to strengthen ties after a long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while opening up opportunities for extensive and long-term cooperation.

He also raised a number of potential areas of cooperation, such as education, environment and tourism, and emphasized that cultural exchange activities also have high potential for creating understanding and trust between the people of the two countries, building a premise for bilateral relations to develop.

Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh highly appreciated the growing relationship between Vietnam and Australia, in which, Hanoi also signed cooperation agreements with a number of Australian states. On that basis, Chairman of the City People's Committee affirmed that the capital Hanoi will continue to expand similar activities with Australian localities, including the Gold Coast.

Leaders of the Hanoi People's Committee also shared with the Mayor of the Gold Coast about the goal of building a livable city in Hanoi, affirming that the city wished to expand its connection with cities around the world. Referring to potential areas of cooperation, he affirmed his agreement with the proposals of the Gold Coast leader, saying that these are all issues that Hanoi is very interested in for the urban development strategy, especially in technology, waste treatment and circular economy. He added that besides the advantage of human resources, Hanoi also has high-tech enterprises that are capable of international cooperation.

He also showed his desire to build a relationship of cooperation in education and tourism exchange, affirming that these will be important prerequisites for expanding investment and trade cooperation, affirming that Hanoi will pay attention to creating favorable conditions for potential cooperation projects and activities between Hanoi and Gold Coast in the coming time./.
