Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile Pham Truong Giang emphasized that Ho Chi Minh Park has become a symbol of the traditional friendship between the two countries laid by President Ho Chi Minh and President Salvador Allende.

According to the ambassador, over the past time, the friendly relationship and multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries has been increasingly consolidated and developed. Chile is currently one of Vietnam's 12 comprehensive partners, with two-way trade exchange leading Chile's trade with ASEAN countries. Currently, Vietnam is completing procedures to open a Defense Attaché Office in Chile to expand the field of cooperation between the two countries.

The project to renovate and embellish the Ho Chi Minh Park, along with the "Ho Chi Minh Space" area, funded by Nghe An province and expected to be completed in 2024, also has practical value in expanding cultural space to people in the district to enjoy and increase their understanding of the history, culture, country and people of Vietnam.

Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hoang Thao noted that in the first visit to Chile in September 2022, he and the delegation of the Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee were extremely moved by the sentiments of the government and people in the district dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnamese people, who have preserved the park throughout the years.

Immediately after the visit, the Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee informed the Embassy of its policy on renovating and embellishing the park with funding contributions from the province. The project was completed on the meaningful anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s 134th birthday.

Cerro Navia District Chief Tamayor affirmed that the park renovation project shows the affection between the people of the two countries and of the Chilean people towards President Ho Chi Minh.

He assessed that the project had been completed successfully, bringing a clean and beautiful green amusement park to the people of the area, and also announced the plan to name a road in the district after Binh Duong.

After the ribbon cutting ceremony, in honor of former President Nguyen Minh Triet and Binh Duong province, the delegation planted two peach trees in the park./.
