The medical equipment support included 10,000 face shields and 50,000 medical face masks worth some VND470 million. They will be transferred to the City Health Department and Fatherland Front to serve COVID-19 prevention.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Duong Tan Hien, Standing Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, said that over the past time, with the determination and spirit of solidarity, the whole political system and people of the city have made joint efforts to seriously and effectively implement the guidelines and policies of the Party and State on the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Mr. Hien, since the fourth wave of COVID-19 in Vietnam, Can Tho City has received aid in medical equipment, quick test kits, face shields and medical masks from foreign localities with a total value of about VND1.7 billion, including aid from Jeollanamdo Province (the RoK) and Okayama City (Japan). “In the complex development of the pandemic, foreign localities’ support is a great source of encouragement for the city to push back the pandemic,” he said, adding that the support also shows the friendship and solidarity of countries with Vietnam in general and with Can Tho City in particular.
Jeong Jong Gyun, Head of the Jeollanamdo Provincial Representative Office in Ho Chi Minh City, said that the medical supplies contain the love of 1.9 million people of Jeollanamdo Province sent to Can Tho City. He also highly appreciated the efforts of Can Tho City in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic over the past time; and expressed his expectation that the pandemic will end soon so that the people of Can Tho City and Jeollanamdo Province can reconnect the friendship exchange activities that were signed by the two localities previously./.
