Ms. Vilavone Phanthavong, Deputy Head of the Lao Revolutionary People’s Party Commission on Popularization and Training, made the statement during a recent meeting to prepare activities marking the Vietnam – Laos, Laos – Vietnam Friendship and Solidarity Year 2022.
Addressing the meeting, Ms. Vilavone Phanthavong said that the meeting approved a resolution establishing a specialized committee; plans to celebrate the Year of Solidarity and Friendship between Laos and Vietnam 2022; the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2022) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 - July 18, 2022).
Accordingly, the Lao Revolutionary People’s Party Commission on Popularization and Training identified 10 major activities, including drafting documents to organize talks on traditional Laos-Vietnam relations for departments and localities across the country; organizing a live and online talk together with a photo exhibition to educate the tradition of Laos - Vietnam relations at ministries, branches and localities across the country; disseminating and introducing historical books on the special relationship between Laos - Vietnam, Vietnam - Laos from 1930 to 2007; and organizing the printing and distribution of books following the historical vestiges of the Ho Chi Minh Road in Laos in the Lao and Vietnamese languages.
Besides, it will carry out ideological education for people along the border of the two countries; organize a contest to write short stories, long stories, memories and poems about the relationship between Laos and Vietnam; organize a question-and-answer contest at educational institutions across the country; encourage people to write special topics, articles and translating all kinds of articles on Laos - Vietnam relations; and organize scientific seminars on Laos - Vietnam relations.
Ms. Vilavone Phanthavong affirmed that 2022 is of special significance for the people of Laos and Vietnam, as it is the Year of Solidarity and Friendship between the two countries and they will jointly organize many commemorative activities.
This will also be an opportunity for the people of the two countries to review the heroic tradition cherished by the great President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong; and inherited and preserved by generations of leaders and people of the two countries, to make it a rare relationship and invaluable common property of the two nations./.
