180 years ago, the valiant Dominican sons and daughters, with their love for peace and yearning for national freedom, fought bravely in the spirit of Francisco del Rosario Sanchez, and penned a new chapter in the history of their country on 27 February 1844, when the blue, white, and red flag created by the hero Juan Pablo Duarte was hoisted high in Puerta del Conde.

These noble symbols bear vivid testament to the similar values between the two peoples of the Dominican Republic and Viet Nam. Both nations aspire and are determined to safeguard their national independence, and forever appreciate the sacrifices made in the fights for sacred causes. Most notably, such values are reflected in the statue of Professor Juan Bosch in Hoa Binh Park in Hanoi, and the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the capital city Santo Domingo./.
