So said Deputy Secretary of the Tra Vinh Provincial Party Committee Lam Minh Dang on April 21 during his working meeting with leaders of Battambang province.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Secretary Dang overviewed the natural conditions; and economic, cultural and social development situation in Tra Vinh province.
According to Mr. Dang, Tra Vinh University is the only school in Vietnam having a School of Southern Khmer Language - Culture - Arts and Humanity, a place of specialized training, conservation and promotion of the cultural identity, customs and traditions of the Khmer people. Since 2012, the province has welcomed 178 Cambodian students, mainly in the fields of general medicine, nursing, dentistry, construction and finance. The province has built one Pali-Khmer vocational school and ethnic boarding schools in districts, towns and cities to serve Khmer children.
Speaking at the meeting, Vietnamese Consul General to Battambang Nguyen Thanh Van, congratulated Tra Vinh and Battambang and the strength of their relationship. He expressed his hope that this relationship would continue to develop. In particular, the two localities should cooperate in the fields of human resource training in agriculture and language.
Mr. Sok Lu, Provincial Governor, Chairman of the Cambodian People's Party of Battambang province, expressed his gratitude to Vietnamese leaders, volunteer soldiers and people in general, including of Tra Vinh province, for their support and assistance to Battambang in recent times.
Since Tra Vinh province was re-established, it has carried out activities to strengthen solidarity and friendship with Battambang province. In terms of friendly relations, every year, Tra Vinh province sends working delegations to Cambodia to implement cooperation programs on culture, education, trade and tourism.
The province has also maintained the Tra Vinh - Phnom Penh - Tra Vinh bus route running twice a day, creating conditions for the people of Tra Vinh province and Cambodia to travel and exchange cooperation./.
