Vietnam-Cambodia friendship developed through sports and tourism cooperation

On May 24, in Hanoi, authorized by Vietnamese Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Head of the 31st SEA Games Organizing Committee Nguyen Van Hung received and worked with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh.

Thanks to Vietnam's sincere and warm welcome to the Cambodian sports delegation, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Tea Banh shared his honour of coming to Vietnam to attend the closing ceremony of the 31st SEA Games and receive the flag of hosting the 32nd SEA Games taking place in 2023 in his country.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Tea Banh, after receiving the 32nd SEA Games hosting flag from Vietnam, Cambodia will hold a parade and place the flag at a solemn place in Cambodia. Through this visit, Cambodia also wants to learn from Vietnam's experience in successfully organizing the 31st SEA Games with many difficulties due to COVID-19.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung affirmed that Vietnam is always ready to share experiences in organizing SEA Games. “The Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will actively exchange experience with Cambodia in the spirit of comprehensive cooperation, actively supporting Cambodia to successfully organize the 32nd SEA Games,” he said.

At the reception, Minister Nguyen Van Hung said that the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister and Cambodian guests to Vietnam this time coincides with a very important event as 2022 is the year Vietnam and Cambodia celebrate 55 years of diplomatic relations. The visit contributes to increasing the meaning and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia in particular and Southeast Asian countries in general.

Affirming that the friendly neighbourly relationship between the two countries is developing well along with sharing in the field of sports and the organization of the SEA Games, Minister Nguyen Van Hung had an exchange with Deputy Prime Minister Tea Banh and Tourism Minister Thong Khon on Vietnam-Cambodia tourism cooperation.

According to Minister Nguyen Van Hung, tourism will go first to pave the way for the successful organization of the 32nd SEA Games. The Minister expects to be able to promote the tourism products in which Vietnam currently has advantages. He also expressed his wish that the two countries would connect tours and tourist routes from heritage regions of Vietnam to heritage regions of Cambodia to increase tourism attraction.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung proposed that Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos give priority to promoting tourism development in the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Tourism Triangle to restore and develop the tourism of the three countries in a more comprehensive manner./.
