WVIV has signed an agreement with Vietnam Post to provide multi-purpose cash support for families affected by Typhoon No. 3. The total assistance amounts to over VND2.3 billion (approximately USD94,000).

The project will be implemented in four districts of Yen Bai province—Tran Yen, Van Yen, Yen Binh and Luc Yen— and run from October 23 to November 30. Each household on the support list will receive a one-time payment of VND3.5 million, enabling them to purchase essential items such as food, school supplies and household goods.

Beyond multi-purpose cash assistance, WVIV will also provide additional support, including distributing hygiene kits, water tanks, repairing water supply facilities and schools, and offering training and public outreach on clean water, sanitation and safety policies. These efforts aim to stabilize lives, create safe spaces for children to resume learning and regular activities, and foster long-term community recovery.

The project is expected to benefit over 580 households, impacting around 2,300 individuals, including adults, children and people with disabilities.

Ms. Vu Thi Nga, Operations Director of WVIV, stated that WVIV's support interventions focus on the most severely affected and vulnerable families, such as low-income households, those facing hardships, and families with children with disabilities or in special circumstances.

“We hope to continue collaborating with local authorities to fulfill our shared goal of sustainable well-being and a meaningful life for every child in Vietnam,” said Ms. Nga.

Ms. Sung Thi May, Vice President of the Yen Bai Red Cross, expressed appreciation for the timely support WVIV’s emergency relief project provides to households impacted by Typhoon No. 3. She hopes WVIV will continue partnering with the local government and authorities to help Yen Bai residents recover and rebuild their living conditions swiftly following the typhoon./.
