Vietnamese Doll Corner opens in India

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to India Ton Sinh Thanh welcomed guests attending the ceremony.

Ambassador Ton Sinh Thanh said that the Vietnamese Doll Corner at the museum displays 99 dolls, which are divided into several groups, including dolls in traditional long dress, dolls in traditional costumes of ethnic minority groups, dolls in traditional bridal dresses, dolls performing art and water puppetry.

He said that these dolls vividly reflect the colourful and diverse culture of the people of Vietnam, and expressed that through the Vietnamese Doll Corner, not only children but also adults in India and other foreign visitors will have the opportunity to understand more about the land and people of Vietnam.

On this occasion, Ambassador Ton Sinh Thanh also thanked the Director of Shankar’s International Dolls Museum and his colleagues because they reserved an area for Vietnam to display dolls formally and believed that the event will contribute to promoting the cultural ties between India and Vietnam.

At the event, the representative of the museum said that India and Vietnam always have bilateral relations, with strong cultural and economic connections. The two countries have supported each other in the hardest times.

He said that the Vietnamese Doll Corner at the museum will contribute to helping Indian and Vietnamese children to be closer and open the door for meaningful study.

Shankar’s International Dolls Museum was opened on November 30th, 1965. The museum is home to the largest collection of costumed dolls in the world, with nearly 7,000 dolls from 85 nations.

The museum is open from 10am to 6pm on weekdays, except Monday and holidays./.
