Overseas Vietnamese welcome Lunar New Year of the Rooster

The Consulate General of Vietnam in Hong Kong and Macau on January 15^th organized a meeting to welcome the Lunar New Year of the Rooster for the overseas Vietnamese community in Hong Kong and Macau.
Vietnamese Consul General to Hong Kong and Macau Hoang Chi Trung briefed participants on the socio-economic and diplomatic achievements of Vietnam in 2016.
Over the past year, Vietnam's economy maintained rapid growth, estimated at 6.3%, inflation was controlled below 5%, foreign investment attraction is stable growth with the total disbursement turnover of about USD15.5 billion, up 12.4% compared to 2015.
Mr. Hoang Chi Trung said that in 2016, the political and social situation remained stable, with outstanding diplomatic achievement. In particular, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has just successfully concluded his official visit to China.
Leaders of the two countries have launched development orientation for comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership between Vietnam and China in the coming time
The Consul General said that the achievements of the country have an important contribution from overseas Vietnamese around the world, including the Vietnamese community in Hong Kong and Macau.
On this occasion, he awarded certificates of merit to outstanding overseas Vietnamese representatives, who have made many contributions to the homeland in building the community.
At the event, the participants also enjoyed an art program praising the homeland and Uncle Ho, performed by overseas Vietnamese, and traditional dishes of the country.
* On the same day, the Vietnamese Embassy in Argentina organized a program to welcome the Lunar New Year of the Rooster for Vietnamese people living, working and studying in Argentina.
Speaking at the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina Nguyen Dinh Thao wished the entire overseas Vietnamese community living, working and studying in Argentina a Happy New Year, and reported the socio-economic situation in the homeland, the highlights and achievements gained in the diplomatic relations between Vietnam-Argentina; while confirming programs and policies, the interest of the Party and the State for the overseas Vietnamese community, especially from the embassy for overseas Vietnamese.
On behalf the Government of Vietnam, Ambassador Dinh Thao appreciated the efforts of the overseas Vietnamese community in Argentina in the past year because they were always united in mutual support to integrate into the local life, as well as many activities looking toward the homeland.
He also reminded them to continue to uphold the tradition of solidarity, raising the national pride, looking toward the homeland to contribute to the cause of building and defending the nation, as well as fostering the friendly and cooperation relationships between Vietnam-Argentina.
At the meeting, the Ambassador presented Tet gifts to overseas Vietnamese to help them have favourable conditions to enjoy the incoming Lunar New Year Festival 2017.
In addition, the attendees enjoyed an art program, traditional dishes and played traditional games./.
