Vietnamese is important in community engagement

Addressing at the opening ceremony, Deputy Head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Luong Thanh Nghi, said that Vietnamese language plays a vital role in connecting 4.5 million Vietnamese people in 110 countries and territories across the world to join hands to preserve national cultural identity as well as to maintain the bonds with mother land, especially in families which the third generations were born and lived far from their mother land.

Mr. Nghi believed the trainees will become the kernel that promote the movement of learning and teaching Vietnamese to actively contribute to retain and enhance the national identity in overseas Vietnamese community.

The event drew the participation of 80 trainees from 12 countries and territories who are non-professional teachers and volunteers and have plan to teach overseas Vietnamese. Lecturers are Vietnam's leading professors in Vietnamese and language teaching.

Trainees will be provided knowledge on Vietnamese language, improving teaching method and professional skills, and will have chance to observe lecture in universities which provide Vietnamese language lessons for foreigners.

They will also participate in activities to study more about Vietnamese land and people via visiting famous landscapes such as Phat Diem stone church, Trang An eco-tourist site, Hoa Lu ancient capital in Ninh Binh province and Tam Chuc pagoda in Ha Nam province./.
