The flight was arranged by Vietnamese authorities, representative offices in Australia, Vietnam Airlines, and relevant Australian agencies.
The passengers on the flight included children under 18 years old, the elderly, sick people, students without accommodations due to university dormitory closures, and those in extremely difficult circumstances.
Vietnamese representative agencies worked with local authorities in Sydney and Melbourne to help the citizens travel to the airports during the Australian Government’s imposition of travel restrictions and border closures between states in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the citizens were also supported to complete procedures before boarding by staff members of the embassy.
Disease prevention measures were carried out during the flight to ensure the citizens’ health and prevent the spread of the pandemic.
Upon landing at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, the flight crew and all passengers were given heath examinations and quarantined in line with regulations.
On August 7, over 340 Vietnamese citizens in Australia were also brought home safely./.
