75th anniversary of Vietnam’s War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day marked in Germany

A meeting was recently held by Vietnamese veterans in Germany to mark the 75th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27) in Magdeburg city in Sachsen-Anhalt state of Germany.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Quang Anh, President of the Vietnamese veterans’ association in Germany, highlighted the great sacrifices of Vietnamese war invalids and martyrs as they fought for national independence and sovereignty.

He said that the meeting was a good opportunity for veterans in Germany to meet and recall old times, adding that in any circumstances, Vietnamese veterans always uphold the country’s traditions and the spirit of Uncle Ho’s soldiers.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Vu Quang Minh emphasized the significance of the event and praised the great sacrifice of Vietnamese war veterans and martyrs during the national struggle for independence and freedom.

The ambassador expected the Vietnamese veterans’ association in Germany to maintain its pioneering role in educating the younger generations on the national traditions and inspiring them to contribute more to building the nation and boosting Vietnam-Germany relations.

At the event, a requiem was also held for fallen soldiers./.
