ASEAN Committee in Cairo exchanges with Egypt’s Diplomatic Academy

This is an activity organized at the initiative of Vietnam, in collaboration with the Diplomatic Academy of Egypt.

At the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Huy Dung, on behalf of the Ambassadors in the ACC group, introduced the process of formation and development of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) over the past 55 years, and the relationship between ASEAN and Egypt.

Ambassadors of ASEAN countries in Cairo introduced the Association's diplomatic activities, the relationship of each country with the host Egypt and answered questions from young Egyptian diplomats about ASEAN's views on some international and regional issues, as well as the prospects of Egypt's bilateral relations with ASEAN and each member of the association.

For his part, Ambassador Ayman Kamel affirmed that Egypt attaches great importance to relations with Asian countries, especially ASEAN. He said that the successful model of ASEAN is very valuable for Egypt and Arab countries to study. Egypt and ASEAN need to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation to take advantage of the potential of the two sides.

Ambassador Ayman Kamel suggested that Egyptian diplomats need to have a long-term vision and strategy in developing relations with ASEAN. He emphasized that the form of exchange between the ASEAN Committee in Cairo and the Egyptian Diplomatic Academy is very necessary and useful, helping Egyptian diplomats better understand and pay more attention to Southeast Asia./.
