The working visit aimed to enhance cooperation prospects in economics, investment, culture, education and tourism between Vietnam and Venezuela, as well as promote trade for Vietnam's strong products.
At the meeting, Governor of Mérida state Jehyson Guzmán presented the political, economic, cultural and social situation of the region.
He expressed his wish that Vietnam would continue to strengthen cooperation in trade, culture, education and tourism to further promote the development of Venezuela in general and Mérida state in particular.
Ambassador Le Viet Duyen emphasized strengthening bilateral relations with Mérida state in various fields, especially in terms of trade exchange in agricultural products and tourism promotion, in order to effectively strengthen the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Venezuela.
Within the framework of implementing economic diplomatic activities, on April 6, the embassy held a seminar on "Trade promotion of Vietnam’s strong products", with the participation of leaders of the state and about 50 local businesses.
Speaking at the seminar, Ambassador Le Viet Duyen reviewed Vietnam’s outstanding achievements after 35 years of innovation: becoming the 40th largest economy in the world, with a total GDP of 343 billion USD in 2021, income per capita constantly being improved and raised; at the same time, introducing the export potential of Vietnam's strong products such as phones, computers, machinery and equipment, garments and shoes.
As one of the major production centers in the Asia-Pacific region and in the world, Vietnam is currently ranked second in the world in terms of rice and coffee exports; and is a world leader in exporting cashew nuts, pepper and many other agricultural products.
Vietnam is also a world leading manufacturing and exporting center of high-tech goods, smartphones and world electronic goods, so there are many opportunities for Venezuelan consumers to use Vietnamese products.
Besides, Vietnam is one of the major furniture manufacturing centers in the world. Venezuela in general and Mérida state in particular can promote the export of suitable woods for Vietnamese manufacturers.
In the context of economic relations and trade exchanges between Vietnam and Venezuela having many positive changes, information exchange and trading opportunities between businesses of the two countries are very important, contributing to promoting the comprehensive partnership between the two nations.
Also on this occasion, the Embassy held a photo exhibition and introduced cuisine to promote the country, culture and people of Vietnam at the Mérida Art Museum, contributing to increasing understanding and mutual trust, tightening the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Venezuela./.
