According to the report, overseas remittances contribute to stabilising the foreign exchange market and accelerating economic growth in the city.

From the beginning of 2021 to June 2023, the amount of overseas remittances transferred to HCMC reached 18.07 billion USD, an increase of 68.42% compared to the first half of the previous term.

The report also said that in the first half of the year, the total foreign direct investment (FDI) into the city reached about 12.65 billion USD. HCMC is making efforts to attract 4.4 billion USD in FDI this year, about 5 billion USD next year, and some 6.2 billion USD in 2025.

According to the HCMC, despite the global economic downturn, foreign investors still view Vietnam as a potential investment market in both the immediate and long term.

In recent times, some FDI bussinesses in the HCM City High-Tech Park have decided to expand their investment such as Intel, Samsung, and Nipro.

The production expansion of FDI bussinesses has contributed to enhancing the Vietnamese role as part of the global supply chain, creating many high-quality jobs./.
