Japanese speech contest held for overseas Vietnamese in Japan

The final round of the Japanese speech contest for overseas Vietnamese in Japan in 2023 was organized at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan on October 29.

The contest, held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam – Japan diplomatic relations, is expected to contribute to strengthening mutual understanding between the two countries and bring motivation to improve Japanese skills among young Vietnamese people living, working and studying in Japan.

The contest organized by the Vietnam-Japan International Exchange Organization (FAVIJA), under the sponsorship of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, has been implemented throughout 2023.

The Organizing Committee selected 27 Vietnamese candidates from many different regions in Japan such as Kanto, Kansai and Kyushu to participate in the preliminary round.

The 10 best contestants were selected to attend the final round in Tokyo.

Mr. Yanagi Youri, Chief of Office of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association, member of the Jury, said that through participating in the speech contest each year, Vietnamese contestants have shown progress in Japanese pronunciation, creative thinking and confidence in public speaking.

The Japanese speech contest for overseas Vietnamese in Japan is an annual activity, a healthy and useful playground for the Vietnamese community in the Land of the Rising Sun, and also opens up many opportunities to meet and exchange among the Vietnamese community as well as between the people of the two countries through the Japanese language bridge./.
