Overseas Vietnamese donate another bridge to Can Tho city

VK 282 Bridge in Thay Ky hamlet, Thanh An town, Vinh Thanh district, is 34 meters long, 3.5 meters wide, with a construction cost of nearly 500 million VND. Of which, the VK Group supported 50% of the construction cost to the locality; Vinh Thanh district supported 30 million VND; the People's Committee of Co Do district’s Thanh Phu commune supported 30 million VND; and Trinh Vuong Parish mobilized parishioners to contribute 190 million VND. The bridge was inaugurated and put into operation after nearly 2 months of construction.

"VK 282 Bridge was inaugurated and put into use to help people travel easily, conveniently trade goods, and contribute to local socio-economic development,” said Mr. Pham Minh Tri, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh An Town.

"Over more than 20 years of operation, the VK Group has built 282 friendship bridges across the country. In Can Tho city, the group has built and put into operation 16 bridges. On this occasion, the VK Group presented 30 gifts to students and teachers in difficult circumstances on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Dragon," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen Thu, Deputy Head of the VK Group.

VK group was founded in 2004 by a group of overseas Vietnamese from Canada, America, France, Japan and Australia with the purpose of building 10 traffic bridges for the Southwest region. So far, VK Group has built and put into operation 282 bridges, with a total length of more than 7,534 meters, with a total value of nearly 44 billion VND in the Southern and Central provinces, most in the Southwest region./.
