Vietnam Day held at Expo Doha 2023

The Vietnamese Embassy in Qatar has coordinated with the Vietnam-Middle East Business Club to organize “Vietnam Day at International Expo Doha 2023” in Doha, Qatar, under the direction of the Prime Minister and leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on economic diplomacy.

During the event on March 7, diverse activities were organized and attracted representatives of ministries, branches and businesses of Qatar, diplomatic corps, international friends and the Vietnamese community in the country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Tran Duc Hung said that Vietnam-Qatar relations have developed stably in many fields since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1993. Vietnam considers Qatar a good friend and a potential partner in the Middle East region. Vietnam highly appreciates the achievements Qatar has made under the leadership of His Majesty Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Congratulating Qatar for organizing the first horticulture exhibition in a desert country in the Middle East, Ambassador Hung thanked the organizing board of Expo Doha 2023 for creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to participate in the expo.

The Ambassador added that Vietnam's agricultural industry is developing and has an increasing role in the global supply chain. Expo Doha 2023 has opened many opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to find partners, share experiences in promoting agricultural development and participate in solving global problems such as desertification, climate change and food security.

He affirmed that Vietnam is committed to restructuring the agricultural sector towards green, circular and sustainable development; and is a reliable partner of Qatar and other countries in solving food security and combating climate change issues.

At the expo, businesses introduced Vietnam's top export products such as cashew nuts, black pepper, rice, coffee, tea, spices, fruits and handicrafts.

A number of Vietnamese businesses connected and signed a Memorandums of Cooperation (MoUs) with partners of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Ethiopia and Panama to bring tea and coffee products to penetrate the markets.

Following the opening ceremony, visitors had the opportunity to enjoy traditional art performances, dishes, agricultural specialties and visit booths of Vietnamese businesses.

This event has contributed to promoting export agricultural products and culture of Vietnam to the Qatari public and international friends./.
