At the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Hong Thach briefly informed Mr. Oleg Alexandrovich about the cooperation situation between Vietnam and Ukraine, and between the twin cities of Hanoi and Kiev, as well as the preparation for celebrating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Ambassador said that the Embassy is implementing a plan to find a place to erect a statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the capital Kiev on the 30th anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic relations.

The Embassy has conducted a survey of a number of locations, worked with the mayor of the city and received the mayor’s support. The Embassy wishes to erect the statue of President Ho Chi Minh within the administrative boundaries of Shevchenko district. Therefore, Ambassador Nguyen Hong Thach asked District Chief Oleg Alexandrovich to support and help the Embassy find a suitable location.

Mr. Oleg Alexandrovich expressed his appreciation and support of the Embassy's policy, saying that this would be a meaningful work on the occasion of the two countries' major holidays.

Among the locations surveyed by the Embassy, Mr. Oleg Alexandrovich supported the Embassy to choose the site in a small park located at the intersection of 4 streets: Dmitrivska, Vyacheslava Chernovola, Sichovykh Strilshiv and Kopernika in city center, opposite Muslima Mahomayeva Park, and promised to assign authorities to check the status of management and use of this park.

If conditions permit, Shevchenko district will coordinate with the Embassy to send a letter to the City Council asking for naming the park and granting permit for construction.

After the exchange, the two sides agreed to continue carrying out necessary works and strive to complete this work in time in 2022, the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries./.
