Vietnamese Ambassador works with National Writers' Union of Ukraine

Vietnamese Ambassador to Ukraine Nguyen Hong Thach recently visited the headquarters of the National Writers' Union of Ukraine and worked with the President of the Union Mikhail Sidorzhevsky, and the President of the Kyiv Writers’ Association Maria Morozenko.

President of the National Writers' Union of Ukraine Mikhail Sidorzhevsky said that the union has had cooperation activities with countries of the former Soviet Union and Iran, and wishes to establish relations with Vietnamese partners.

Ambassador Nguyen Hong Thach expressed his pleasure to visit and learn about the union, and said that he was willing to introduce the union to partners in Vietnam to promote cooperation in the field of literature and art.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Ambassador and the President of the National Union’s Writers of Ukraine discussed a number of cooperation initiatives between the embassy and the union, including the idea of organizing a writing contest about Vietnam towards the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Ukraine (January 23, 1992-January 23, 2022).

The National Union’s Writers of Ukraine, established in 1937, currently has about 2,000 members, including 84 members abroad. The members of the union compose in many different languages such as Ukrainian, Russian, Moldovan, Hungarian, Greek and Hebrew./.
