Vietnamese community in Laos’ Oudomxay province pays tribute to heroic martyrs

A ceremony was held by the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Oudomxay province (Northern Laos) on the evening of March 23 to commemorate the merits of four Vietnamese martyrs who are Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed themselves while carrying out their international missions in Northern Lao provinces.

These are the first martyrs to be found and unearthed by the team gathering the remains of soldiers of Military Region 2 in the dry season 2022-2023.

The remains of the four martyrs have been found in Luang Namtha province, Northern Laos. The identities of all the martyrs are still unknown.

Representatives of the Overseas Vietnamese community in Oudomxay offered incense and flowers to express their gratitude for the sacrifices of the martyrs.

A team from Military Region 2 will continue to search for, verify information, and repatriate the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died while carrying out their international missions in northern Laos, during the dry season 2022-2023.

Military Region 2 has carried out the search for and repatriation of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts in six northern Lao provinces since 1994, contributing to the verification of 4,300 pieces of information about martyrs' graves, and repatriating the remains of nearly 1,800 martyrs./.
