Inspecting environmental protection activities in Ha Long bay

On July 14, Vice chairman of Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee Dang Van Hau inspected environmental protection activities in Ha Long bay.

He directly visited Ha Long I Market’s fish dock, the youth beach area and Bai Chay tourism passenger port.

After hearing reports from departments, relevant agencies and Ha Long city on protecting the environment around Ha Long bay, Mr Dang Van Hau asked the provincial public security force, in collaboration with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, to recheck wastewater treatment systems in all restaurants and hotels around Bai Chay tourism area, enhancing the investigation and fining of those who violate environmental regulations.

It is necessary for the Quang Ninh provincial Department of Transport to be ready to treat wastewater from tourism boats, and accelerate popularization activities in passenger and tourism ports on protecting the environment.

Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee Vice chairman also assigned Ha Long bay Management Unit to actively prepare for collecting and treating rubbish in the bay.

Besides, leaders of Ha Long city are requested to strictly review and effectively manage fish markets, approved environmental protection projects and tourism environment management./.
