(CPV) -
The Management Board of Ha Long bay, Quang Ninh provincial Youth Union, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Osaka University have planted mangrove forest in the area of
Dau Go cave.

The event was participated in by more than 50 volunteers, who are students from Osaka University, Quang Ninh medical college and staff of the Ha Long bay Management Board and Quang Ninh Youth Union.

Despite unfavourable weather, volunteers enthusiastically planted more than 1,500 aegiceras, mangroves and Brugiuera cylindricas.

Mr. Yoshiaki Kitaya, professor of Osaka University and a representative from JICA, said while participating in the reforestation that it is a meaningful activity for the environment of Ha Long Bay and it makes Vietnam - Japan relations closer, particularly between the young generations.

In the coming time, JICA will continue to support Quang Ninh province to carry out projects on solving the problem of pollution, to build a sustainable system for the environment of Ha Long bay.

Planting mangrove forest is a project conducted by the Quang Ninh People’s Committee and JICA for three years of 2010-2013. This is a practical and significant activity to raise people’s awareness of the environment, contributing to protecting the environment in general, and of Ha Long bay in particular./.
