Quang Ninh province carries out safe water and rural environmental sanitation program

The northern province of Quang Ninh has held a meeting to carry out its safe water and rural environmental sanitation program for the 2013-2018 period.

According to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, as of late 2012, the province had 50 concentrated water supply constructions and over 76,000 water supply constructions at the household level. 32% of rural residents had access to safe water.

Meanwhile, people’s awareness about safe water and rural environmental sanitation had remarkably increased.

In the next five years, the province is expected to focus on building policies to support residents’ use of safe water and hygienic restrooms, increasing community involvement in the program and creating conditions for the effective management and operation of constructions./.
