Quang Ninh to increase salt water aquiculture area to 6,700 hectares

Quang Ninh province has made plans for fisheries raising development, with a planned area of 6,700 hectares of salt water fisheries areas by 2015 and 7,592 hectares by 2020, with a salt water fisheries output of 17,889 tonnes by 2015 and 25,800 tonnes by 2020.

For fresh water fisheries area planning, the province will transfer 500 hectares of poor efficiency agricultural production area to fresh water fisheries raising, increasing the total area of fresh water fisheries raising to 13,400 hectares.

Dong Trieu, Quang Yen and Hai Ha districts and Uong Bi city are the main places in the plan. Accordingly, they will focus on raising fish of high economic value, in combination with continuing to raise the traditional kinds of fish.

Salt water planning will focus on coastal areas, bays, around islands and open sea areas. In addition, new, advanced and environmentally friendly technologies will be applied in the raising./.
