Northern province earmarks VND1.4 trillion to improve power system

According to the Department of Industry and Trade of the northern province of Quang Ninh, in the 2011-2013 period, the province put aside VND1.438 trillion to construct and upgrade the power systems for 10,871 families in mainland villages, and transmit power across the undersea cable system to Co To Island.

The investment helped to raise the number of families in rural areas who had access to power to over 98%, making the province a national leader in this criterion.

With a target to help a majority of households have access to power by late 2015, the department has built a plan for power investment in areas that do not yet have electricity. Meanwhile, the provincial People’s Committee has suggested the Government be allowed to carry out a project to provide power to rural, mountainous and island regions in the province in the 2014-2015 period./.
