National automatic air environment monitoring station handed over to Quang Ninh province

(CPV) - The Vietnam Environment Administration (VEA) under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) and the Quang Ninh provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environmental signed an agreement to hand over the management and operation of the national automatic air environment monitoring station on March 25 in Ha Long City.

The event was attended by Mr. Hoang Duong Tung, Deputy Head of the VEA.

The national automatic air environment monitoring station is located in Hong Ha ward, Ha Long City and in the framework of the project on water and air environment monitoring automatic device enhancement of MONRE, with total investment of VND8 billion.

After a year of installation, the station was put into operation at the end of 2013. This is a type of roadside station which is capable of monitoring the basic parameters of urban atmospheric environment, including NO, NO2, NOx, SO2, CO, ozone and dust.

At the hand-over ceremony, Mr. Hoang Duong Tung asked Quang Ninh province to manage, exploit and operate the station effectively.

Quang Ninh province is researching to build 27 water and air environment monitoring stations. The representative of the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment asked the VEA to continue to cooperate to train staff to effectively operate province-level monitoring stations to improve effectiveness of environmental protection and serve the province’s socio-economic development./.
