Coal sector adds 65 percent to Quang Ninh’s industrial value

In spite of economic difficulties, Quang Ninh’s coal sector still contributed 65 percent of the province’s industrial value, reported the magazine of the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV).

In 2013, the coal sector invested about VND22 trillion in production activities in Quang Ninh, contributing over 50 percent of the province’s budget and 40 percent of the province’s GDP.

Currently, about 110,000 workers are working in factories and mines in Quang Ninh, accounting for one third of the province’s population. In addition, the coal sector made great contributions to social and cultural activities and poverty reduction in rural and mountainous areas. Many welfare projects have been built by the coal sector each year./.
