Over 7,000 handicapped people and orphans benefit from assistance programs

From 2008 to 2013, the Association for the Support of Handicapped and Orphans of the northern province of Quang Ninh mobilised over VND8 billion to assist over 7,000 people through support programs.

During the Congress of the Association for the 4^th term (2013-2018), which was held in Quang Ninh province on April 2, these figures were released.

In addition to assisting handicapped people and orphans, the association focuses on giving vocational training and jobs to disabled people to raise their living standard.

In the new term, the association targets to expand and effectively implement programs for disabled people and orphans, especially among those who are living in poverty or students. They also aim to increase vocational training and job creation programs to assist them with integration into communities.

During the congress, Dang Huy Hau, Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee, explained that handicapped people and orphans often experience many life difficulties and hardships, so the association should maintain regular assistance for those who cannot work. He also encouraged the association to continue giving vocational training and support to those who are still able to work, because they still face many disadvantages others don’t. He also stressed the importance of social activities to the total lives for disabled people and orphans./.
