(CPV) - The Association for the Support of Handicapped and Orphans in the northern province of Quang Ninh has called on localities, unions, agencies, enterprises, schools, hospitals, armed forces, sponsors and local people as well as domestic and foreign organizations to assist disabled people and orphans in the province.

They are reaching out to honor the Vietnam’s annual Day for Disabled People (April 18).

Over the past years, together with the Party and State policies, the province has carried out diverse social programs to help disabled people and orphans with daily difficulties. Many disabled people and orphans strive to have better lives but need the joint assistance of society to achieve their goals.

In addition to economic development, the province is carrying out an action plan and project to care for children with special circumstances. The province also adopted a project to assist disabled people from 2012-2020.

Between 2008 and 2013, the Association for the Support of Handicapped and Orphans of Quang Ninh Province mobilised over VND8 billion to assist more than 7,000 beneficiaries. The money went to projects which focused on helping disabled people through vocational training and job creation.

The association also called on assistance for disadvantaged locals, especially those living in poverty or at risk for poverty in rural, mountainous, border and island areas and impoverished disabled pupils and orphans./.
