Accordingly, the average income of rural residents has reached VND23 million per year; the poverty rate has been reduced to 1.95%; the number of the rural population who get access to safe water has reached 94.5%; and 36 schools have achieved the national standard.

During the implementation of the program, the town has focused on increasing people’s income by boosting economic development, building the infrastructure and pushing up poverty reduction schemes.

Earlier, the town issued a resolution on developing the agricultural, forestry and aquaculture industries, altering' the planting structure, gradually creating 'concentrated commodities' production regions. Many new models have proved their efficiency, bringing new income for people, including raising chickens, pigs, fisheries and safe vegetables.

The success of the program was partly brought by the support from the local people. As of late 2012, people donated over VND58 billion; 108,976 square metres of land; 3,364 metres of barrier walls; 207 gates; 4,563 trees and 26,500 working days.

As a result, five of eight communes in the town have reached the criteria for the program. The rest are expected to be at the standard for the program by 2015./.
