Quang Ninh cares for disabled people’s lives

Over the past few years, authorities and unions in the northern province of Quang Ninh have carried out diverse activities of great significance to protect, care for and assist people with disabilities in integrating into communities.

In Cam Pha city, the city People’s Committee has given regular assistance to over 1,000 disabled people in 2014 while other agencies and enterprises have conducted active programs to assist disabled people’s lives.

According to Dao Duy Hao, President of the city enterprises’ association, each year, the association gives aid worth VND500,000-VND12 million to each of 276 orphans and disabled people.

There are currently some 19,000 disabled people in Quang Ninh province, with over 8,000 people enjoying monthly social allowances. Apart from authorities, agencies and unions, disabled people in the province have received care from enterprises, organizations and individuals.

According to the provincial Association for the Support of Handicapped and Orphans, in 2013, 161 organizations and individuals assisted disabled people and orphans with over VND1 billion. Thanks to the assistance, diverse disadvantaged people enjoyed better lives.

Hoang Thanh, President of the association, confirmed that increased social involvement in caring for disabled people had made it easier to provide artificial legs and arms, orthopedic surgeries and housing for disabled people, thus remarkably improving their spiritual and material lives and encouraging them to thrive./.
