Foreign tourists to Quang Ninh rise sharply

The northern province of Quang Ninh greeted more than 1.13 million foreign tourist arrivals from the start of the year, a year-on-year rise of 17 percent.

Of this, number of foreign tourists staying overnight at Ha Long Bay in the first four months this year reached more than 565,000, a 18 percent increase over a year earlier.

Travel businesses in the province received and provided services for about 216,000 foreign tourist arrivals, up 33 percent against the same period last year. Nearly 656,000 foreign tourist arrivals visited Ha Long Bay during the period, up 2 percent year on year.

Over the past four months, the province earned more than VND2 trillion from tourism turnover, a year-on-year rise of 18 percent.

Ha Long city is forecast to attract thousands foreign tourists to Carnval Ha Long Festival 2014 which is ready in tens of hours and the landscape continues to be an attractive destination for foreign tourists when series of summer tourism events will be organised there./.
