Northern province promotes gender equality

Localities and agencies in the northern province of Quang Ninh are planning human resources by 2020 with an orientation until 2030, with strong focus on training and using female staff at localities.

Over the past several years, there has been a high rate of the number of potential female leaders and managers at all levels and the important role of women has been highlighted in all areas.
Regulations issued by the provincial People’s Committee on policies in labour and employment involving female staff, Party committees, authorities, agencies and unions have carried out diverse programs and projects to create jobs and increase income for labourers, including female labourers. The programs include workplace fairness, labour export, poverty reduction and preferential loans.
Quang Ninh has been reported as one of the provinces with a high number of female staff participating in national economic sectors and playing an increasingly important role in the economic development of the province.
Meanwhile, priority in training, State management and political theory has always been given to female staff and ethnic minority women.
In 2013 and 2014, the number of women participating in training programs accounts for 43%, and in professional fostering programs accounts for 36%. These figures apply mainly to the healthcare, cultural and educational sectors. Furthermore, the number of women that have higher education certification has been increasing rapidly.
According to the assessment of relevant agencies, over the past years, women have participated in almost all production and service areas. They have spent less time on domestic work and participated more in economic development./.
