Over 5,000 ethnic minority and poor families to receive land and water support

The northern province of Quang Ninh, is going to carry out a Prime Ministerial decision on giving residential and arable land with safe water supplies to ethnic minority and poor families in extremely disadvantaged villages and communes. Accordingly, over 5,000 families in the province will benefit from the implementation of the decision.
According to the provincial Ethnic Minorities Department, Quang Ninh province has 5,146 poor ethnic minority families and poor families; 472 families of whom are in need of residential land, 2,342 families in need of arable land, and 2,350 families in need of safe water.
Under the implementation of the decision, to help people expand production, increase their income and stablise their lives, the province has worked out diverse solutions which focus on shifting industries, giving vocational training to labourers, creating jobs for labourers and applying advanced science and technology into production.
The province is striving to provide residential and arable land for 80% of needy families and to tackle the shortage of safe water supply to ethnic minority families and poor households in extremely disadvantaged villages and communes./.
