First Asia- Europe music festival 2014

The first Asia-Europe music festival to be officially held in Vietnam will see performances take place in both Hanoi and Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province from October 8-12..
The festival was initiated by the Vietnam Musicians Association, to continue the success of the International New Music Festival: “Europe - Asia” founded by the Ministry of Culture, Union of Composers of the Russian Federation and Union of Composers of Tatarstan in 1993.
The event has become the meeting place for outstanding composers and performing artists, their compositions and a place for them to exchange their professional experience. On this occasion, musicians and artists can acquire the quintessence of new music whilst simultaneously promoting their nations’ contemporary music and making their personal contributions to enhancing the partnership, cooperation and cultural development between Vietnam and Asian-European countries.
It is expected to draw the participation of more than 100 famous composers and artists from 30 countries such as Great Britain, Austria, the Netherlands, Republic of Korea, US, Russia, Japan and France.
After the opening ceremony the event will include a string of concerts from 5 different programmes and over 100 compositions from various genres,, ranging from Symphony,, to Folk Music, Opera, Ballet, Choir and Contemporary. There will be a workshop with the theme of “Asia-Europe New Music at the early 21st century”./.
