Quang Ninh collects over VND11.2 trillion from trade activities

The Quang Ninh provincial Customs Department collected more than VND11.2 trillion from export and import activities in the first 7 months of the year, a year-on-year rise of 17%, reported Quang Ninh Television.
According to Mong Cai border gate customs branch, since the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s circular 05 became effective, the two-way trade through the border gate has steadily declined. Overall turnover for the first 7 months of 2014 decreased by 20% from the same period of last year. However, a series of effective changes in administrative policy and procedures such as ; removing some requirements from businesses, admonishing unpaid tax accounts, , applying automatic custom procedures on the VNAC – VCIS system, and enhancing smuggling and counterfeit prevention, were conducted during the period.
Consequently, the tax revenue from two-way trade through the border gate still reached more than VND300 million, 56% of the year’s plan. The Quang Ninh provincial Customs Department officially operated the VNAC-VCIS system in almost all branches, helping to lessen wordy administrative procedures and reduce the burden on businesses. So far, 487 businesses in the province have applied for their customs clearance through the VNAC-VCIS system.
Aiming to raise tax revenue from export and import activities, the provincial customs department proposed that the Quang Ninh People’s Committee remove the complicated calculation process on the import tax from petrol and oil from the Van Phong warehouse in Khanh Hoa province. Consequently, more than VND7.7 trillion has been collected from the source for the state’s budget.
By July 2014, collection from export and import activities in Quang Ninh was estimated at over VND11.2 trillion, 60% of the Ministry of Finance’s plan and 58% of the year’s target.
The provincial customs department strives to reach VND19.5 trillion of tax collection from trade activities in 2014, significantly contributing to Quang Ninh’s socio-economic development./.
