Nearly 140,000 disadvantaged children receive support during action month for children

During the 2014 action month for children, nearly 140,000 disadvantaged children in the northern province of Quang Ninh, were given presents and received regular assistance, while thousands of others were provided with legal knowledge and joined cultural, sports and recreation activities.
The information was provided by the provincial Department of Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs, during a meeting to review the action month on August 26.
According to the department, the provincial Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, agreed to give regular sponsorship to 1,505 disadvantaged children and granted 138 presents worth over VND54 million to the children.
Meanwhile, the provincial Confederation of Labour, gave allowances to 546 labourers’ children in special circumstances and 1,000 paper-cases with the function of lifebuoys to children in remote areas.
In addition, all localities visited, gave presents and sponsored over 2,200 disadvantaged children, spending a total capital of over VND2 billion.
On this occasion, the provincial Department of Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs and the provincial Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, rewarded 19 collectives and 19 individuals who had achieved the significant tasks required to enable the success of action month for the under-privileged children and for conducting other activities to manage and educate teenagers and pupils./.
