The northern province of Quang Ninh will organise numerous activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary Ha Long bay’s recognition as a World Natural Heritage site (1994-2014).

An art performance entitled “Saving the green Ha Long Bay all the time” will be held on 8:00 pm of November 1 at October 30 Square with the participation of well-known artists in Vietnam.

Together with a celebration ceremony, Quang Ninh will associate with relevant agencies to organise various popularization activities to raise awareness of people and tourists about the heritage at the end of October and the beginning of November. They include a photo competition on Ha Long bay, a talk to discuss ways to help businesses travel with the Ha Long bay natural heritage site and a seminar on preservation of sustainable value of the natural heritage site.

Specifically, to mark the event, tourists will have opportunities to see Ha Long bay landscape by plane from 2:00-4:00 pm of November 1.

Ha Long bay expects to greet 2.8 million tourist arrivals in 2014.

Ha Long Bay is located in QuangNinh province in northeast Vietnam, covering an area of 1,553 square kilometers and comprising 1,969 islands. It is best known for the thousand islands scattered across its emerald water.

In 1994, this dramatic beauty prompted UNESCO to inscribe Ha Long bay as a World Natural Heritage site. Again, in November 2000, it was recognized by UNESCO for its geological and geomorphological value./.
