Quang Ninh province reviews first consultative meeting

The provincial Election Committee has established steering committees and NA and People’s Council election committee at all levels; organized 1st consultative meeting and adjusted the structure, component and allocation of the number of candidates introduced to elect deputies of the provincial People’s Council. 

Accordingly, 14 candidates will be introduced for the election of 4 NA deputies, and 252 candidates will be introduced to compete for 75 seats of the provincial People’s Council.

The whole province has three electoral units for the 14th NA election and 21 electoral units for provincial People’s Council election; 466 people will be elected as deputies of district People’s Council and 4,686 elected as deputies of communal People’s Council, with 136 district electoral units and 1,264 communal electoral units with 1,465 electoral teams across the province.

During the process of implementation of electoral work, some problems arose in dividing electoral units and defining the number of deputies of People’s Council. 

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Doc, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Head of the Steering Committee cum Chairman of the provincial Election Committee, asked localities to announce the election decisions, number of deputies, election board establishment and election locations on March 13th at the latest, so voters can register candidacies and post voting lists on April 12th.

He also asked the Department of Home Affairs to implement training work before March 15th; the Department of Finance allocates the budget to localities before March 10th. Information communication should be ensured to be smooth and timely between the provincial steering committee and localities.

In terms of propaganda, besides visual vivid propaganda, direct dialogues should be held to create a consensus among the people. In addition, security and order should be ensured./.
