The money was collected during the 15th program “Spring for Children” held in Hanoi on January 9.

Held annually by the National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC) under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA), the program "Spring for Children" aims to bring meaningful and practical gifts to poor children and children with special circumstances; and honour organizations and individuals with outstanding contributions to supporting disadvantaged children over the years.

Speaking at the opening of the program, Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Chairwoman of the NFVC, emphasized that this year's "Spring for Children" program takes place in a special context. Under the leadership of the Party, the joint efforts and consensus of the whole political system and the whole society, the country has overcome the most difficult period, transitioning to a state of safe, flexible adaptation and effective control of the COVID-19 pandemic; to fulfill at the highest level the socio-economic development targets and tasks in 2021.

She appreciated efforts made by businesses, organisations and individuals at home and abroad in joining hands with the Party and State to help more than 3,400 orphans and millions of children affected by the COVID-19 pandemic surmount difficulties and stabilise their lives.

Showing her thanks to the country’s leaders and former leaders for precious assistance for children and the NFVC, she also spoke highly of the benevolent hearts and volunteer activities of domestic and foreign agencies, organizations and individuals who always support and accompany the Fund even in difficult and challenging times.

She stressed that children have the right to receive care and love from society. “Although the Party and State have many guidelines and policies that show attention and priority to child care, education and protection, with many important results having been achieved, there are still many children in special circumstances needing care and assistance,” she said.

She also expressed hope that support for children will be bolstered in the coming time.

Last year, the NFVC mobilised more than VND92 billion and assisted 115,000 children affected by the pandemic through different programmes and projects like building classrooms and playgrounds, financing surgeries and presenting bikes and scholarships to disadvantaged children./.
