HCMC attracts 50% of international tourists to Vietnam

The number of foreign tourists to Ho Chi Minh city reached an estimated 2.25 million in the first three months of 2019, fulfilling 27% of the year’s plan, according to its Department of Tourism.

This figure corresponds to about 50% of the total number of foreign tourists to Vietnam in the first quarter of this year. The southern hub earned tourism revenue of about VND39.8 billion, 26.6% of the year’s plan.
With this figure, Ho Chi Minh city remains the most attractive destination of the country, as Hanoi greets more than 1.8 million foreigners during the period.
At the city named Uncle Ho, landscapes like Notre Dame Cathedral, Ben Thanh market, Independence Palace and War Remnants Museum were the first choices of foreign tourists. Statistics showed that the foreign visitors mainly come from Japan, the Republic of Korea, China and the US.
Four tourism products invested by the city over the past time are waterway/public/health/agricultural tourism./.
